Found a website that will let you choose the caller ID that appears and also change your voice. Here is a call from the AR bar association (me) to Damon Singleton (law grad awaiting bar results) about his recent bar exam discrepancy.  Awesome.

“This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I’ll never look into your eyes…again
Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need…of some…stranger’s hand”

AR Bar Blog July 2010: “The End.”

The end is near and I can only imagine what life will be like without this constant burden, this looming demon that we’ve been running from yet knowing that we need to turn and face.  Okay, my attempt to sound like Jim is over.

I am ready for this shit to be over with.  I took a 1 day hiatus (that turned into 3 days) at the lake this weekend and it made me remember what happiness felt like.  I laid in the sun, rode in the boats, drank mehican cervezas, and never once thought of a legal analogy or fact pattern.  However, as my days of bliss grew more numerous than intended, the dread of what I had to come home to grew twice as fast.  But, now that I am back home and I have spent a day reviewing and taking some practice MEE questions, I remember that I have studied and I know that I am ready. Sure, I have probably not studied as much as many people, but I know how much I needed to study and I feel as though I have accomplished my goals.  Studying less doesn’t mean that you are less prepared if you studied smarter than those who studied more.

At this point in time, it is too late to change course.  All I can do is try not to get psyched out by all the speculation on how grades will be distributed and what the lowest score I can make on the essays to pass will be or whether other people have been studying 10 times as much as I have.  All I can do is glance over my short outlines, sip on a glass of cold wonderful Canadian whiskey, and let fate and God do the rest.  I am at peace.  Unless I fail, then I will be at “ape shit.” (Does that work?) Anyways, for my last AR Bar Blog July 2010 post, I would like to say that, although you may or MAY NOT be as awesome and brilliant and naturally talented as I am, and although you may or MAY NOT have been described as “the greatest up-and-coming legal mind of this century,” you may get lucky and end up getting all the questions that you studied for the most and coming out with Top Paper or with a “PASS” or with a “passed the MBE only” or whatever the fuck you are shooting for.  But as for me, I’m shooting for the beloved 270.  Because in my book, that is the grade of the smartest person in the class (which is ironic since the dumbest person is the person that studied just hard enough to get a 269). Anyways, I guess all that is my way of saying “Good Luck!”

REMEMBER: No matter what happens, let’s get together, talk about the huge chunk of our lives we threw away to law school, and enter the “real world” with a big ass party!  The “Pass or Fail, Drink ‘til You’re Dead Party” is on and I hope to see you all there!  More info after the test.

-A. Johnson, OUT!
